Lesley's Runny-Walk
I’ve madly signed up to attempt to do the Cancer Research UK 60 mile run (2 miles a day hopefully) this September. The problem is that it's more than 30 years since I've run more than the few meters it takes to get to a train, and I am unbelievably unfit - on top of that I HATE running... but not nearly as much as I hate cancer. I'm trying to get ready by doing the NHS Couch-to-5k programme during August, and at the moment, running between two lamp-posts is challenge enough, but I'm hoping, if I stick with it, that what is currently a runny-walk, will, by the end of September, be more of a walky-run. If I actually manage to run 2 miles non stop at any point by the end of September I might just keel over in shock. I'm doing this for so many people, but particularly my Uncle Eric, Stuat's dad, our brave, beautiful, far-too-young friend Sharon, but most of all, my bonkers, fabulous, wonderful mummy. Please give what you can so that we can help the amazing scientists at Cancer Research get that awful '1 in 2' statistic down.
