I am taking part in the race for Life because I want cancer to be a thing of the past...I am a nurse who has seen the devastation that cancer can cause to people, my brother in law and my sister in law have both had cancer, luckily both survived it. I am also an animal lover and have a number of cats, 3 of them had cancer and the treatment given to them is exactly the same as that given to people, so every bit of research done by cancer research UK helps both people and animals. Together we can beat this awful disease.

Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
