Leanne's Race for Life

Cancer is happening all over the world affecting so many people also including some very special people close to me. Back in 2007 my beautiful Nan got diagnosed with bladder cancer and unfortunately it lead to her living with a Stoma bag - which, she wore with pride. My nanny lived her life to the very fullest putting smiles on all of our faces each and every day. Then unfortunately in 2016, my family and I received some devastating news when we found out my Nan had got diagnosed with oesophagus cancer but keeping with my Nan’s personality she was determined she was going to beat this keeping a smile on her face the whole time. She went through numerous hospital appointments and chemotherapy but whenever we came to see her, her face still lit up the room with her beaming smile! Unfortunately in June last year my nan lost her battle and she grew her beautiful wings to heaven. With the loss of our Nan we all stayed strong for my Grandad and he was absolutely amazing. Sadly, my Grandad also had his own battle with prostate cancer which again -like his dear wife - he was always so cheerful and bubbly. Sharing our first Christmas without our nan, trying to make it special for everyone, little did we know that was going to be our last Christmas spent with our Grandad... My Grandad fought up a fight throughout those tough months. He stayed strong and fighting to spend his 85th birthday with us on January 8th but unfortunately my grandad eventually lost his fight and with the loss of my nan my grandad decided grow his wings to join my Nanny Pat in heaven on January 13th. I know they are both looking down on us all and wherever we are, they are there❤️ After the toughest year for my family I have decided to do this 5k Race with my family and make the day into a memorable day we can all look back on and raise as much as we can for the great cause that is Cancer Research!
