My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. In 2010, I lost my uncle. He was the life of the party, funny and full of life. Seeing how this disease impacted him, his friends and my family was devastating. The hole he left in the hearts of many will never go away. Since then, I have seen family and friends cry and be heartbroken over not been able to speak to my uncle; for him not to make us all laugh, for him to be at the other side of the phone for a chat, for him not to be drinking us all under the table without a care in the world. I have seen many people that I am close to have to watch their loved ones battle with this disease. I have seen them grieve and be broken when a loved one loses the fight. Cancer does not care whether you are healthy, young, old, fat, skinny, tall or short. Since 2011 there has been an 8% increase in people surviving cancer. Unfortunately this is still only at 50%, with your sponsors we can be part of a huge campaign to continue to fund research to increase the number of people surviving cancer each year.
