1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. In my own experience, 1 in 2 people diagnosed will leave us too soon. Every single pound donated makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, which can only be a good thing. So, I'll be getting stuck in and filthy, and aiming to complete in under 45 minutes. I can't say my effort will be comparable to the exertion of those undergoing treatment, but I'm certainly going to give it my all. I'll be running 2 weeks before what should be my Grandma's 80th birthday, and the reminder of what's been missed from our lives in 14 years will be my driver.

Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
