My Story
I never thought that I or any of my family would be effected by cancer, you just don’t think it’ll happen to you even though everyone knows the statistics, and it didn’t effect me or my family until this year on April 8th when my dad was diagnosed with sarcoma of the knee, it was a massive shock and came out of no where. He was told that the doctors could remove the tumour, he would have radiotherapy and then it would be sorted. Everyone was pretty positive about the outcome and they just had to run tests to make sure that it had not spread. On Friday, April 12th, which is my dad’s birthday, he and we were all given the news that the cancer had spread to his chest and that it was so aggressive and fast spreading that there was nothing that could be done to stop it, and that it was, devastatingly, terminal. We were all in shock at this news and it has been the worst time in all of our lives. Living your lives day by day and scan result to scan result is not how anyone plans their lives out, but this is now our reality. My dad is now having radiotherapy to try and shrink his tumour as the tumour has left him unable to walk without the use of crutches and unable to drive. We don’t know what the future will hold or what is next to come, but we have hope. I am passionate about racing money for cancer research as this is now a cause that is so close to my heart, and I want to do all I can to help with the awfulness of cancer. Thank you for reading my story, and please donate to such a worthy cause. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
