My Story
In November 2016 myself and many of my friends were devastated by our amazing friend Laura's diagnosis of small cell lung cancer. She was told she would have a year... she endured awful chemo and radiotherapy treatments to be told at the end of June last year she had 2 weeks left. This had to be one of the most harrowing times of our lives. I was on holiday abroad when the end neared... I didn't want to go, but Laura being as selfless as she was insisted I went. I travelled home early on the 15th of July 2017 to be with her in her final hours but sadly missed her goodbyes. But she knew I was on my way and that gives me comfort. She passed on at the tender age of 36... 2 weeks before her birthday, next to her devoted husband. Leaving behind 4 young children also. Laura never once said why me... she battled on, she cared more about a pain in my leg than she did the cancer that was eating away at her! And to top it off her husband's Gran (another woman I adored) passed away only 13 days later. But she had kept her diagnosis to herself as she didn't want to worry us anymore. This horrible disease needs to be dealt with. It's evil... it's cruel and it takes the people who least deserve it! Let's run... and kick cancer square in the Floof!!!
