My Story

Cancer is what got me and James together when I first did Race for Life in 2018. In October 2025, I got diagnosed with breast cancer and honestly the worst part was the severe reaction from one of the chemos (paclitaxel) I was taking and I genuinely thought I was dying at the time! 💀 My bigger fear was losing my hair so I tried the cold cap but after my third session on the third month, my hair began to fall out and it got so uncomfortable, I shaved it all off and rocked the buzzcut! Plus, I have two cool fursuit heads! 🤣 I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of friends, family and even strangers who have supported me and of course James. Everyone has been amazing and helped me right from the start with medical advice, reassurance and joking about it definitely made me feel a lot less scared 🫶 And how could I forget the NHS who essentially gave me VIP treatment and literally kept me alive all this time! It's all been a big reality slap in the face! ❤️🎗 I channelled my inner shieldmaiden / Spartan to battle through this and abort the little c*** inside me 💪😤🛡⚔️🗡🪓 Quite frankly, I've tried to see the funny side of it cos what’s the point being miserable and making yourself feel shit?! I embraced my new indentitty! 😂 On a more serious note, being the LEAST "girliest girl" and someone who is NOT feminine, it's made me very aggressive towards my identity a lot more due to the fact a lot of breast cancer charities revolves around femininity but it's actually made me realise who I really am as a person and now after having a double mastectomy (the same as top surgery minus the fact I lost my nipples, which doesn’t bother me) not only to lower the risk of the cancer returning but it has also been very gender affirming so it's really been a silver lining! 💛🤍💜🖤 Going to churches and taking photos with my drone and in fursuit has been one of the things that’s kept me sane throughout all of this for sure. I'm doing this for me, my mum, my dad, my nan, my aunt, Ghost, Typhon (Dale), Zhoran's dad and so many other people I know who have been affected by cancer 💪❤️ The event is very special to me - even more so now and I still don’t think it’s all sunk in yet 🩷 🖕 FUCK CANCER 🖕
