Sophie
We are running the Great North Run 2019 in honour of our very dear friend Sophie Lillywhite. Sophie was a wonderfully kind hearted, beautiful soul who we sadly lost in 2018. We all met at Newcastle University in 2005 and will return to where it all began to pay tribute to Sophie by running the biggest half marathon in the city that she loved. As well as running in memory of Sophie we also want to raise money for Cancer Research UK to support research and to try and beat the disease.

Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further. Help Cancer Research UK improve results even faster.
