Laura - Pretty Muddy 5K

Dearest friends, family, colleagues (and anyone else who's stumbled across this), On the 29th July this year, my longstanding and ever-unflappable best friend Nuala Wheatley and I are entering Pretty Muddy: a 5K run/obstacle course. In mud. Ew. For most of you, I'm sure 5K would be little more than a warm up, but I am notoriously dire at running. My legs are too short and my feet are too big and I resemble a baby elephant, but despite all this I'm giving it a shot to raise money for Cancer Research. I doubt there are many of you reading this that have not been affected by cancer in some way. Indeed, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, which is why it is so important we step up and raise funds to contribute to Cancer Research UK's groundbreaking work. I'll be running in memory of my dear grandad, Bob, who we sadly lost to Oesophageal cancer back in 2010. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss him terribly and wish he could have been there even a little longer to see me grow up. My Grandad was a paratrooper, and I will be running this primarily because I know he would find his least sporty granddaughter attempting an army-style assault course side-splittingly hilarious. I would be so so grateful for any donations to my fundraising effort - I know we live in ever more expensive times, but if you've even got a pound to put forward that would be marvellous...and may even give me the motivation to run even longer next time. Maybe.
