My mum (only 64)died from cancer last November, after a cruel and painful struggle with the illness.

In memory of

Jan (Granjan) Munro

My Story

I am racing for cancer, with our children, in memory of my gorgeous mum (Granjan), (Newbury 2nd July). Mum died - way too early - last year, after a relatively short, but intensely cruel and painful struggle with cancer. I am also doing the Reading Pretty Muddy obstacle race with my dear friend Bex, in support of her lovely brother Chris, who is currently battling cancer. Cancer inflicts so much devastation; from the moment of diagnosis, as a family member or close friend, it brings an overwhelming mental torture that intoxicates your spirit and makes every breath painful, every thought distressed. Everything is brought into question. When this sort of pain enters your life, it either consumes you or you can rise up and do something positive: to push for a better future, build your confidence in hope again, focus on what others may have which you had desperately wanted for your dearest loved one. On their behalf, in their memory, with the drive of their love, and the love you still ache for, you can fight on .... Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
