Larrisa's Race for Life

My Story

I’m taking part in Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. Like so many families, cancer has had a devastating impact on mine. We have lost my grandad Vic, my grandad George and my nanny Lyn to this terrible disease, and their memories are a huge motivation for me to do something positive in their honour. Cancer has also affected those still with us, including my mum, who recently underwent an incredibly brave six-hour surgery to remove a tumour and is now receiving precautionary treatment in London. Her strength, resilience and determination throughout everything she has faced has been nothing short of inspiring. Watching how courageously she has handled such a difficult journey has made me even more determined to support the incredible work that Cancer Research UK does, also my Auntie Coral who also was incredibly brave and underwent surgery due to Cancer. This has had a massive impact on all of us as a family and this Charity holds a very special place in my heart. If I can help even one person battling this awful disease by raising money for Cancer Research that would mean so much to me and us as a family. Every donation, no matter how small, helps fund life-saving research and brings us one step closer to better treatments and cures.
