My Story
We’ve decided to take on the challenge of the London Marathon to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts. Every step we take on that 26.2-mile journey is a testament to the power of research, early detection, and the tireless efforts of those dedicated to finding a cure. Testicular cancer survival has significantly increased in the last 50 years in the UK, because of the amazing research CRUK has done. In the 1970s, around 7 in 10 (69.2%) men diagnosed with testicular cancer survived their disease beyond ten years, by the 2010s it was almost all (98.2%). Ian is now at his 10 year diagnosis anniversary and is coming up to his 7 year cancer free anniversary, while Larissa uses her spare time as a Cancer Research UK ambassador, lobbying politicians to dedicate more funds and resources to curing cancer. We want to help CRUK with our fundraising efforts to keep them researching and saving lives. We've got a lot of family & friends affected by cancer, some of which we've sadly lost. By donating, you’ll be directly contributing to the research and advancements that save lives every day. Whether it’s £5 or £50, every donation counts. Your generosity will not only help us cross the finish line but also bring us closer to a world where cancer is no longer a fearsome diagnosis but a treatable condition, or even doesn't exist at all. Running the London Marathon is no small feat, but we’re more determined than ever. However, we can’t do this alone - we need your support to make a real difference. Thank you in advance! Larissa & Ian xxx
