I’m taking part in the Great North Run for a second year to raise funds for Cancer Research Cancer Research is a cause close to my heart after loosing my Aunt to Parathyroid Cancer in 2013. Seeing her battle and those of many other friends and family friends inspired my to fundraise and volunteer for the charity as Campaigns Ambassador for the Bishop Auckland Constituency. Funded research has helped double cancer survival rates over the past 40 years. Less than 1/4 of people diagnosed with cancer in the 1970s survived the disease for 10 years or more . But we want to go further faster and see 3/4 of people surviving cancer within 20 years. To do that we need your support. The charity relies solely on fundraising and volunteer support it does not receive government funding. Research alone cannot beat cancer which is why I chose to join the campaigns team. By working with our Local MPs to push for important policy changes and we can help ensure or NHS gets the support from government it needs.
