My Story
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. I chose to do the Race for Life in memory of Kevin, my mum's fiancee and partner of 15 years. Kevin was always a big character, helping anyone with anything. He was one of those people who would get along with everybody. The King of BBQ's and road trips. My mum's soul mate. When Kevin became ill, he and my mother were planning on getting married. Wedding dress and suit purchased and flowers and invitations made for the big day - March 24th - Kevin was then diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus and within a very short time, he lost his battle on March 5th. Seeing this big, strong and happy person deteriorate was heartbreaking - especially for his mum, my mum and his daughter, and knowing this happens to families everywhere is tragic. I knew cancer was awful before someone I knew had this disease but seeing it happen to a someone I knew and cared about really opened my eyes to the devastation this disease really has on those affected and their family and friends. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure.
