I'm taking part in Race for Life to raise money for future cancer research.
Anyone who knows me knows cancer is one of my biggest fears. It's killed some of my heroes, some of my pets and most recently one of my great aunts. One of the worst things about cancer is it can be so sudden. It can be days, weeks, months or years but it never feels like you are ever prepared for it. As an admin in a medical practice, I have worked on the medical side of things for patients and honestly it is so devastating to see the patients and their family once they've been told. All you want to do is help, even the littlest things. And that is what we do, even if it never feels like enough. Unfortunately, I'm not a scientist. I don't have the cure to save all the people I want. Hopefully though, this experience will help raise some money for where it is needed - in the research. We want more people to survive this.
