My Story
Hey everyone. Firstly thank you for visiting this page to donate your money to such an important cause for us. Only 1% of cancer funding is given to focus on the brain, and this is our way of helping to boost that percentage. In November 2022, my partner, Kieran Shingler, also a son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend was unexpectedly diagnosed with a high grade cancerous brain tumour, at the age of 23. Following an emergency CT scan at Warrington Hospital, Kieran was admitted to The Walton Centre, where he had four major brain surgeries, including an emergency surgery on Christmas Day. As you can imagine this was a horrific time for our family and friends. Following his four surgery’s, Kieran also suffers from short-term memory loss. He started his treatment, both Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy at Clatterbridge, Liverpool, and finishes his first cycle at the end of February. Anyone who knows Kie, knows how much he loves sport, especially in the football and triathlon world. Kie is such an active person and loves getting out on his bike, going for a run or even a swim (both indoor and outdoor). He has taken part in several triathlons and has always amazed those who support him with how determined he is. Since the beginning of this heartbreaking journey, Kie has been unable to take on any sort of exercise which understandably has taken a toll on him. ✨ Myself, family, friends and his fellow triathletes are taking part in Cancer Research’s 5K Pretty Muddy this year, to raise funds for Brain Cancer Research and to make our Kieran proud! ✨ 🧠 Since learning about brain cancer, we have realised how under funded it is and that there needs to be more money put into the research and developments to help save lives! Research offers the only real hope of dramatic improvements in the management and treatment of brain tumours. Over £700m is spent on cancer research in the UK every year, yet less than 3% is spent on brain tumours. Even if the funds we raise help one life, we will be satisfied. Our target is £2904.99 (Kieran’s DOB) and your money will go straight to Brain Cancer Research 🔬💷 “Kieran’s Krew” will be wearing grey T-shirts on the day and getting as muddy as we can. If you see us, come and say hi 👋 Thank you, love Abbie 🤍
