I'm getting my fat ass up to help beat cancer
In memory of
the best aunt ever, my aunty Tanya
Losing my aunt to Cancer at the beginning of the year was a big sad for me in 2020 and now having my mum diagnosed with cancer has not been the greatest. However - instead of getting all in my feels about it, I have decided to run for them. Seeing the people you love in pain is never nice nor does it ever get any easier and for the past couple of weeks - months even, I have toiled over ideas trying to think of the best way to help. My mum is a natural giver, her heart is so large and for years (I can account for 21 of those) she has opened not only her heart but our homes to others, with little to no questions asked. Since her diagnosis I had struggled with my mental health and coming to terms with what’s going on with my mum. I was frustrated not being able to do something for her in the same way she has done for me. Then I realised the best way I can support her is just doing what I can - and the only thing that doesn’t include endless cups of tea is doing my bit and running. So please donate - as little or as much as you can -as a little motivation I promise that for every £50 you donate, I'll run an extra 1K ;) to put it simply - THE MORE YOU DONATE, THE MORE I WILL RUN. And if you can't donate all I ask if that you practice compassion and kindness - we don't know how long my mum went undiagnosed for but it shouldn't take cancer for you to express your love for one another and that is something I learned after losing my aunty Tan. The greatest birthday gift you could give is getting me to my goal (and maybe some wine for when this is over) I'll be putting my run on Instagram Live (@kialorbanana) - if not I'll be keeping you posted on Strava on (TBC) for you all to watch - not only are you supporting ground breaking-research, but you'll be watching me break a sweat - send me a DM and I'll let you know where to send the wine to ;) Stay safe and be kind to one another xx
