I'm running around the Hoe and getting sweaty because cancer is still the UK's 4th biggest killer!

In memory of

My Dad, Richard

My Story

I'm back! For the 3rd year running I am taking part in Plymouth's Race for Life to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. But this year with my best friend, Rhian! It's no lie that cancer affects everyone in some way, be it by experiencing it first hand or knowing someone who has. As many of you may know, I lost my amazing Dad, Richard to multiple cancers in August 2014. I promised myself that every year I'd try and do something to fundraise for a cancer related charity. The money raised really doesn't go to waste, every pound is used to help beat cancer sooner. I have decided to run the Race for Life again this year as once again it has fallen on Father's Day and it just seems fitting! I ran my first Race for Life in 2010 with some friends and family in memory of my late Grandad, Dick (Richard) who also passed away from cancer in 2008. I can't remember how much we raised, but we finished in 45 minutes dressed in Hula attire (see picture). In 2015, with the help of some amazing friends, family and customers I managed to raise £453 for Cancer Research when running the Race for Life. I managed to improve my time (possibly by shedding the Hula gear) and completed it in 35 minutes and 25 seconds. I then went on to complete the Midnight Walk for St Lukes Hospice, raising a further £306.55 for the hospice that looked after my Dad in his final few days. In 2016, again with help from amazing friends, family and customers of the garage, I raised £402.23 and completed the race a whole two seconds quicker than 2015 (35m23s)! This year with the help of Rhian I'm aiming to beat both my fundraising totals and also my time (probably by another 2 seconds)! Any help you can give would be much appreciated! To everyone that has supported me over the last few years, thank you so much! It truly means a lot!
