My Story
2017 was my first year of doing Pretty Muddy. My friend, Nicola Collis, asked me to go along and keep her company. To be honest, I had a few wines the night before and said "yeah, I 'll go with you Nic!" (Secretly dreading it) Thought I was going to look silly as I hate running! I was under the belief it was all running, when in fact, when we arrived at the venue on the Sunday morning, I immediately seen my Tesco colleagues, about 50 of them! Instantly I felt at home and introduced Nicola to a few of them. We done the warm-up, which is tiring! Then, got to the start point and 'bang'! Off we go! We did start running, then the laughing set in! An amazing laugh was had and for such a good cause! Unfortunately, not long after we done the event, Nicola got diagnosed with bowel cancer for which she is going through her treatment now. My mum and gran had breast cancer in the past and we have lost friends to cancer as well. For those reasons, I intend to partake in this event every year. This year, my two teenage girls are joining me as well. They can't wait! Personally, I think it so they can dunk me in the mud and get me lagged, but, I m sure I 'll get revenge! Please sponsor me, gives me incentive to run more! ( note to self, must buy more bras for the day!) Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
