My Story
I am raising money for this charity for my Mum, Sandra Garcia. Last year, March 2018, Mum was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer after believing she had a chest infection. She was offered trial chemotherapy treatment which took a toll on her and put her in hospital several times. She was in the ICU and given 48hrs after contracting pneumonia and sepsis - to the surprise of everyone, she got better. My mother is a fighter. Always has been and always will be. She was told that she could also have radiotherapy on her lungs. In November 2018 she was told she was cancer free, without even a scar on her lungs from the treatment! Unfortunately, in February 2019 we found out that the cancer has now spread to Mum’s brain with multiple tumours. She's been able to go through another round of radiotherapy on her brain which we are now waiting on the results for. The last year has been incredibly hard and devastating, for not only my Mum but our entire family. So we are doing this run as a group to support Mum and others like her, in their fight against cancer and the charities which provide invaluable support to those going through treatment and their families. Sadly on the 31st of May 2019 my mum lost her battle with cancer. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
