My Story
Many of you will know up until only a few years ago Cancer wasn't something that had effected our family directly, all our experience of Cancer had been through close family friends but more recently it has had quite an impact on us directly. Many of you will recall back in 2013 when we had our first family exposure to the big "C", myself and my friends walked 12 miles for Princess Alice hospice in memory of my Uncle Gary (my mums brother) who lost a short battle with Cancer on 1st October 2013 and more recently in August 2015 my gorgeous much loved Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer, luckily for us surgery has eliminated her illness but unfortunately due to other underlying medical conditions she is unable to take the required cancer preventing drugs that are recommended for the 5 years after a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. She has check ups regularly to check that this awful disease hasn't returned, I've always wanted to make a difference to help eliminate it once and for all but now more than ever following the exposure my family have had to this horrible, horrible illness. As a result of this Mum and I have signed up to take part in race for life on 24th June at tilgate park, with hundreds of other women, we are hoping our small contribution will go some way in making a huge impact on defeating this dreadful disease that effects us and many of our friends lives in some shape or form! 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
