My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. My dad Damian, was diagnosed with bowel cancer on the 26/2/2019. The last 4 months have been the hardest we have had to face, but we have pulled together as a family and are doing the best we can to help with his recovery. He had an operation to remove a large section of his bowel and has had three of of four Chemotherapy treatments. He developed blood clots in his legs and lungs after the second round of chemotherapy and feels tired all the time. I decided to run the race for life 5km (and I am going to push myself to run it) after going for a 5km run with my mum to help with her training for a 10 mile race, it was easier than I expected, and my mum never thought I'd be able to do it. This will be my first sponsored race and I am so proud to be raising money for a charity that has helped my dad through so much. I just want to give a little back and really appreciate all the support Keira Ayling (age 9)
