My Story

“Are you going to talk about your bum again?” Yes. Yes I am. Because it could be IBS, or IBD, or piles. Or it might be bowel cancer. I was diagnosed in May 2024 at 36 years old. I have been chatting to people about my bum habits since. I am receiving great care from the NHS here in Cornwall, have a brilliant team who keep the laughs and the support flowing. I find it quite difficult to share the hard parts of this journey but, believe me, there are lots. Bowel Babe is working hard to change that. To celebrate my birthday this year, I want to raise some money to help them along. I’d like to host a get together later in the year, showcasing all my lovely friends crafty skills, at our local community hub The Grow Box Cafe. In the meantime please give generously to this fundraiser if you can. I’ve always believed in giving more than you take, and as a birthday gift a few quid in here would be smashing.

Bowelbabe Fund

Fuelled by the spirit of rebellious hope - of choosing to remain hopeful in the face of overwhelming odds - the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK was set up to continue the incredible legacy of Dame Deborah James. We raise money to fund cutting edge research into early detection and personalised medicine, raise awareness of signs and symptoms and tackle the stigmas around cancer with unflinching honesty so we can give more people affected by cancer more time with the people they love.
