My Story
Thank you very much indeed for visiting my fundraising page. 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. What sounds like a very abstract statement became real as B cell lymphoma, breast cancer, endometrial cancer, prostate cancer, and throat cancer in my extended family. In June, my grandfather died of metastasized bowl cancer. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m going to run 60 miles in September to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. As a full disclosure I would like to mention that I am a scientist at the Francis Crick Institute, of which CRUK is one of the six founding partner organisations. Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
