I’m fundraising to beat liver cancer

In memory of

Katie Jamieson

7th Apr 1989 - 7th Oct 2021

My Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. "Katie's Walk" in honour of Katie (Katherine) Jamieson will take place during June 2022 from Solihull in the West Midlands to Transport for London's Stratford Office in Endeavour Square where Katie worked. The walk will take place along the Grand Union Canal over 8 days covering a distance of approximately 150 miles. Last year, Katie died from a rare form of liver cancer and this left me, and many others bereft of a dear friend and colleague. Katie worked in our Strategic Analysis department at Transport for London (TfL). She was diagnosed in late 2020 and lived for only 11 months. Cancer can be devastating to anybody at any time. I also lost my own father James Hayden to cancer in May 2021 but it is particularly devastating to lose a person so young and full of life. Katie was only 32 years old. She had interests in so many things, sports (Katie particularly loved climbing), travel, food, pub quizzes and lots more. Katie had a love for animals and her cats were a regular feature on our work Zoom & Teams calls during the COVID-19 lockdown. She also loved her job at TfL as a Transport Modeller and Data Analyst and contributed so much to our team. Katie's family, friends, colleagues and managers at TfL are fully supportive of this fundraising project to raise money for Cancer Research UK to help combat rare Liver cancers and we hope you will give generously. We can only hope that one day in the future cancer becomes a curable disease and people don't have to suffer the illness and pain that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
