My Story
My best friend, Clare, was diagnosed with breast cancer in February this year. We have been best friends since we were 11 years old. When we found out I repeated it to myself, what felt like every minute of every day and I still couldn’t believe it. It just couldn’t be true. But it is and she’s tackling it head on and, along with everything else she’s achieved in her life, makes me proud every day. The amazing people that work tirelessly to research cancer and how to fight it, manage it and live with it, have contributed to saving the live’s of some of the people that mean the most to me in the world. Not least my Dad, John, my Stepdad, Alan, my sister in law, Sam, and now my best friend Clare. I know as our lives continue this won’t be the end of the list, but I also know as long as we have people willing to dedicate their lives to finding a cure and those who are willing to donate money, to make a difference to many thousands of people’s lives then we have a chance. A chance to beat cancer. Forever. My boys, Harry & Tom will be running alongside me to celebrate those we still hold close and in memory of those we have lost. If you can donate any money even £1 please know it will make a difference. Thank you :0) Katie, Harry & Tom xxx Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
