My Story
Hi I am Katie. Cancer touched my life earlier than most as my mother died when I was 11 months old from cervical cancer. I don’t remember but I know how much it affected all around her. As a community nurse I see people at all stages being treated for cancer. Lots get better some don’t. I have known Charlotte most of my life and I am so proud to call her my friend. She is truly amazing, and the best news I have had in a long time was when she was given her cancer free diagnosis after a horrid few months. I have also been on a ‘journey’ over the last year in that I have lost 7 stone in weight. So this race for life is my challenge to do something active after my weight loss, to support Charlie and to help raise much needed funds so more people can get that fab ‘cancer free’ news. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
