2017 Simplyhealth Great North Run
Sun 10 Sep 2017
UPDATE !! WE DID IT !! Very pleased with our time of 4:15:48 - not far behind Mo Farrah but he has got a few years on us !! Had a great day - just a few blisters - but proudly wearing our medals. Thank you very much for all your support & kind donations - we raised over £1,200 xxx I was diagnosed last August with skin cancer which has unfortunately turned out to be malignant melonoma. This is not curable but I am receiving immunotherapy treatment every 3 weeks at Preston Royal Hospital and have so far been responding well and some of the tumours have shrunk. Skin cancer is becoming more common in the UK and melanoma is particularly agressive. Immunotherapy is a relative new treatment which is getting results. I have decided that I am going to do what I can to raise money for Cancer Research so that more treatments can be discovered & more people can either be cured or live long, full lives. So in September, KBs Team (myself, husband Alan & Granddaughter Charlotte) will be taking part in the Great North Run. While our pace will be more of a walk than a run the 13 Mile distance is still a challenge and we hope to finish before dark without having to use our bus passes !! We are currently in training at home accompanied by our 3 dogs Chester, Max & Belle. Please help me to raise as much money as possible by making a donation. Thank you in advance. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
