Katherine's Race for Life
Haydock 10k 2021
Sun 17 Oct 2021 - Sun 17 Oct 2021
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. I've decided to do this because Cancer devastates lives and I've known people who have passed away from various types of cancer. My partners' uncle was diagnosed with cancer over ten years ago but survived it. More research needs to be done into finding cures and due to the Covid pandemic charities like Cancer Research are lacking funds they so desperately need. I've never took part in a race before for a Cancer charity but this year I've decided I'll take that step. Who knows? I might take part in similar events at other times in the future. It's new to me but there's a first time for everything. 2020 has been such a terrible year for most people, with lives completely disrupted, there's been such a lot of negativity and life has been anything but normal. I'm sure it's been a whole lot worse for people living with cancer with not everybody getting the support they need and treatments being delayed. We can only hope despite everything that's still happening that this year turns out to be better with more positive events taking place and families and friends being able to see one another again. It is very difficult not being able to have physical contact with those you care about, I myself wasn't able to see my family at all last year as they live abroad and couldn't make it to the UK due to the pandemic. I don't know if I'll see them this year but despite the horrendous time most of us have been having at least we can get together later this year and do something positive that will benefit so many peoples' lives. I take my hat off to everyone who is taking part in the race or any other fund raising event for Cancer Research. I believe one day we WILL beat cancer.
