My Story
Everyone knows someone who is affected by cancer. But selfishly you hope it will ever affect you or your family! In January my mum called round to see me as she said she wanted to show me the dress she had bought to wear for my wedding. I didn’t think anything of it. When she came round she asked if she could show it to me upstairs out the way of everyone else. Once we got upstairs she sat me down and told me she had just found out she had Bowel cancer...! I felt like my whole world suddenly had come down on me. Like a huge weight.....! I just couldn’t believe it! My beautiful, young mum was now about to go on a awlful journey to battle this nasty disease and there was nothing I could do about it! I just couldn’t believe it and was devastated for her and our family. It took me a while to come to terms with what we were all about to face on the journey ahead , but I was determined to support Mum 100%, be strong and help in every way I could. 6 months on mums strength and positivity has been amazing through the operation and the chemo, despite her having some really bad days she always has her lippy on! 😀 The nurses and hospital have been amazing from the moment she went to the doctors with just stomach pains to after the operation. This is an NHS that is in crisis but the help & care Mum has had has been 1st class. I wanted to do something productive to help Mum so I thought running Race for life would bring something positive to our situation and help raise money for such a worthy cause. My aim is to run the 10k race in under an hour!!! Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Even if it is just £1.
