For mom

My Story

My mom passed away just over a year ago, from ovarian cancer. Last month my family back in Colorado took part in Jodi's run for ovarian cancer in her memory. I wasn't able to join for that so I'm taking part in this pretty muddy with some fantastic accomplices to raise money for Cancer UK. I'm starting this page on July 3rd, what would have been her 61st birthday. My mom had the most zest for life of anyone I've ever known. She was so generous and loving, and made every person who came into our house, a part of our family. I wish Scarlett could grow up knowing her Grandma Pixie, but I hope that the brief time they had together made an impression. In her memory, I've tried to feel her love of life and people, and hopefully I'll be able to raise Scarlett in a house as warm and welcoming as mine was. If you can donate, that's wonderful. If not, that's cool too! Please do take the time to familiarize yourself with these early warning signs of ovarian cancer. It's so difficult to detect in the early stages, so the more you know, the better! -Abdominal bloating, indigestion or nausea. -Changes in appetite, such as a loss of appetite or feeling full sooner. -Pressure in the pelvis or lower back. -A more frequent or urgent need to urinate and/or constipation. -Changes in bowel movements. -Increased abdominal girth. -Tiredness or low energy. -Changes in menstruation. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
