My Story
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Just before Christmas in 2014, a large tumour grew very quickly under my arm which turned out to be a rare form of lymphoma. Chemo started on Christmas Day but the first combination of drugs failed to put me into remission, and so my consultant switched me to a new regimen which Addenbrookes had access to as a large teaching hospital. That did work and was followed with three weeks of radiotherapy to give the best chance of a long remission. I have been very lucky to have been well since finishing my treatment in September 2015, though it took several months to regain my full strength. Nearly all patients with my lymphoma relapse at some point so the more research there is that can develop less gruelling treatments, the better! Also in memory of my cousin Marcus who died young after much suffering.
