We are Dryathletes, please support us to improve relations with our livers this January.

In memory of

Norma Hodgkinson

My Story

This January Kat and Joe are taking on Dryathlon® and raising money for Cancer Research UK. Anyone that knows us in any way at all will have an understanding about our very deep, emotional bond with white wine. It has played an important (and often disastrous) role in both of our lives for many years. We are doing it in memory of Norma Hodgkinson, Kat's grandmother, who died in November last year: At the end of 2016 I lost my grandma and best friend, Norma Hodgkinson, to cancer. She too had a very 'special' relationship with booze and she was very rarely more than arms reach away from a glass of something. I am deeply grateful to Joe for doing it with me. I am also grateful given he is a TERRIBLE influence, and if he weren't I'd have given up on Day 1. I have decided to quit the sauce for a month for several reasons: - To mark her memory - To raise money for Cancer Research, to help pave the way to ending this nonsense for good - To improve relations with my liver, before we have to call Kofi Annan in to mediate I have no doubt that this will be an utterly hideous uphill battle, throughout which I will curse myself on a daily basis for making such an awful, life shattering decision. I am also hoping that it will raise some cash for a worthy and important cause and kick start 2017 in the way I mean to continue it i.e. without the crushing despair and horror of a hangover on a Wednesday. I would be really grateful if you could join me on this epic and dangerous journey, and donate what you can. If anyone sees me with a wine glass in my hand at any point during the month of January, I give you permission to slap it out.
