My Story
I am raising money for Cancer Research UK and have been walking as far as I can every day, to get as many steps as possible, to raise money for this brilliant cause. My wife had been diagnosed with myelofibrosis (A type of blood cancer). She was on a new medication that helped to prolong and improve her quality of life over the last 18 months. She sadly passed away on 29th April 2023 with Covid and pneumonia. She would not have had this treatment without the continued studies, trials and research into cancer. The UK is incredibly lucky to have free medical care and ongoing research into cancer treatments. So far, I have walked over 10,000 km and raised 3700 Pounds. I hope to reach more than the target of 5000 by the end of November 2025. Like the saying "Tiny drops make the mighty ocean.", small donations add up to large fund. Hence, please sponsor me as little or as much as you can. I thank you all in advance. Special thanks to the publishers of In Your Area, Cheadle & Bramhall Posts, Stockport Independent, and We Love Bramhall Group on Facebook for giving publicity to my cause. It's beyond my dreams, that the post at We Love Bramhall, on Facebook, has raised 250 Pounds within 24 hours. I sincerely thank all the donors for their generosity and the motivating comments.. Recently after getting some item attended to at the Bramhall Repair Cafe, I mentioned that I used to repair watches and clocks as a hobby. And due to double vision in seeing small things, I had sold the tools and donated the proceedings to my Fundraising. Syd Norbury of SK Auto Sales and Auto Care, needed help with a Grandfather clock and a 31-day mantle clock that were not working. Though Syd was prepared to pick me up, I went by walk to his house in Poynton from Bramhall, Dismantled the clock movements from their casing and discussed with him the solution to put them right. Syd said that he can clean and lubricate the movements himself. After a few days, he message to say that both the clocks were working merrily. and he has generously contributed to my fund raising. I sincerely thank him. I met Brian, that lives in Poynton, during my walks. He mentioned about a huge Grandfather Clock. He came two days ago and picked me up, as his house is not easily accessible by foot. I had a look at it and that also needs cleaning and lubricating. So, waking up from my slumber has helped people to get their precious clocks working. If the clocks do not need any part replacements, I am prepared to service them. I only request people to think of contributing to the fundraising. Nash
