Karla's Veg Pledge
I'm going Pescatarian this November for Cancer Research UK !! Woooooohooooo
READ ME !! In April 2016, my life experienced it’s biggest plot twist.. my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. There are not words enough to describe the overwhelming fear that comes with the fact that you could lose your best friend, confidant, teacher, drinking buddy (yesss Bev loves the wine, don’t let her fool you ) and all round, undeniable love of your life. To go through a complete lung removal, a severed Esophagus to remove all the cancer, the possibility that you’ll never hear your mom say your name or hear her laugh again. Then the recovery and the infection that very nearly killed her. The chemo. The joy of celebrating Christmas together when you never thought you would, and seeing 2017 with a new outlook. Her return to work, a beacon of strength and endurance. But then she’s not okay. Confused, wide eyed, falling over all the time. Feb 1st 2017, Perfect 60th birthday present for Dad ‘Sorry Mr & Mrs Hall, it’s a Brain Tumour’. And there you are again. But this time you are ANGRYYY. An anger you’ve never felt before ‘hasn’t she been through enough ?!’. The fear that you’ll wake up and find her cold and lifeless in bed having suffered a fit or stroke. But fast forward to 2018. She fought her fight and she’s still here. Against all the odds. The living epitome of ‘living her best life’. So I’m doing this pledge for all those who can look their cancer survivor in the eye, but more importantly for all those who can’t. Since cancer affected my life with such force, 2 friends have lost their fathers, and 4 people are still battling. So I can go with out meat for a month (eventhough we know Karla likes to eattttt) to support such an important and powerful cause. I want to smash this target. So get your pennies out and let’s do this. All the love and thanks in advance .. Karla xxxx PS I WILL HARASS YOUR LIFE UNTIL WE HIT THIS TARGET LOOOL xxxx
