My Story
This is a charity close to my heart because my 9 year old daughter, Mya, was diagnosed with a rare ovarian childhood cancer last year. The tumour was so big that it was obstructing her kidneys, causing them to fail. She was in so much pain she could barely walk and was rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital. When she was first diagnosed, It felt like the end of the world, devastating news for any parent to hear and it was difficult to see her go through the treatment: losing her hair from chemo, various tests, scans, blood transfusions, being sick and in pain after surgeries, most recently the surgery to remove the tumour and her ovary, but she has managed to beat it! For such a little girl, she has been through so much in a short amount of time. She is so brave and inspiring, as are all the other people and children who are fighting cancer right now! I am doing this race for life in honour of Mya and in memory of loved ones that have been lost to this horrible disease. I want to help others like Mya and raise money to help beat cancer sooner!
