My Story
In November 2013, my sister in law Rachel had suspected appendicitis and underwent surgery to remove her appendix. She was six months pregnant at the time. Luckily, the operation was a success, and she gave birth to my niece Cari, in March 2014. Two days later, she was asked to go back to the hospital for what she thought was a check on her post-pregnancy recovery. Instead, she received the news that a very rare cancerous tumour had been found on my appendix. When she finally had her scan in September 2014, there was no evidence of the cancer, which was a huge relief to all the family. Following this upset & turmoil she took up running and signed up to the London Marathon this year. In January, this year, she thankfully received the good news that she is clear of cancer.” Her inspiration and strength has encouraged me to sign up for the Cardiff Half Marathon this year to raise money for life-saving research.
