Let's Get the Ball Rolling
The Great Golf Challenge
Mon 6 Aug 2018
I am a survivor of Testicular Cancer. The work of organisations like Cancer Research allows people to survive cancer.
Someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer every 2 minutes. Most of us will know someone who has been affected by cancer but no one ever thinks that they themselves will be that ‘someone.’ During last summer I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and became that “someone.” Fortunately in my case within 4 weeks the cancer was removed through surgery. Within another 4 weeks I had the all-clear with no further treatment required - and I was back on the golf course losing more balls. This August I will be part of a four-man team taking on Cancer Research’s Great Golf Challenge at Ballycastle Golf Course - to complete 72 holes of golf in one day and raise as much money in doing so for Cancer Research. More and more cancers are becoming treatable, as it was for me, but there is still work to be done. Cancer Research UK is a pioneer in cancer research and has helped to double cancer patient survival rates in the last four decades. Without donations from the public, and I hope that will include you, they would not be able to continue their lifesaving work.. Please help us in raising as many donations as possible so more people can be as lucky as I have been and survive cancer.

Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
