My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This March I’m walking 10,000 steps a day throughout the month to help beat cancer. Help me Walk All Over Cancer and fund life-saving research by making a donation to my page. 2020 was a challenge for all of us but for those fighting cancer everyday brought additional challenges and fears. Many of us are very aware of COVID and how we can all take the correct steps to reduce the virus, so I feel confident that’s in hand and positive about the future where that’s concerned. Thank goodness for our fabulous NHS and other supporting services. During these times Cancer goes on affecting the lives of so many and we still need life saving research to help improve survival chances. Cancer is a disease very close to my family in so many ways. My parents have spent many years struggling with breast cancer and prostate cancer. Both surviving through a mixture of surgical procedures and various medicines. My husband’s late father died of prostrate cancer in his fifties and his sister has fought off breast cancer with inspiring grit. So when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2020 the love and support from all my family helped me through my own dark time. My operation was undertaken in February 2020 at the Royal Marsden Surrey a few weeks before lockdown caused the cancellation of so many cancer related operations around the UK. To this day I remind myself that I fall into the category of the ‘lucky ones’ diagnosed before lockdown before COVID. I’m now ready to lead a fulfilling life surrounded by my wonderful family. My husband is my soulmate and my wonderful sons make me laugh so often which I hear is the best medicine of all!
