My Story
💜 After a year where vital cancer trials have been delayed, the Race for Life is more important than ever. That's why we’ll be taking part in a Very 2020 Race for Life. Although at the moment donating may not be something everyone can do, every pound you can donate will go towards Cancer Research UK’s ground-breaking work, so if you'd like to support this great cause we’d really appreciate it! I did my first Race for Life 19 years ago at Heaton Park in Manchester with buddies united by Oz travel who have now all emigrated to Australia! This year is Mia’s first Race For Life and she’s running for her own cause. Since 2001 I have done the Race for Life or Pretty Muddy events whenever I have been able to. It’s always a great atmosphere and energy with some incredible stories of living with cancer and joining in nonetheless. This year is no different, the stories are all the more heartbreaking, inspiring, humbling and uplifting on the Facebook group. We’re doing this for Mia’s friend Julia who is recovering after a year of treatment, for the fantastic care and treatment my mum had for cancer in 2009, in memory of Uncle Robert who sadly passed away 15 years ago, and for all family and friends whose lives have been touched by cancer. Mia and I will be running/walking ‘the circuit’ where we live on Saturday morning after Alex Jones virtually starts the event at 9.30am. We won’t let 2020 stop us.
