My Story
Roll back to Summer 2017 we received free devastating news that my brother Ben’s disease had progressed to Acute Myeloid Leukaumia (AML), for which the only cure is Stem Cell Transplant, which occurred 11th September 2017. Roll forward to January 2020 and we find out the disease is back, a massive rarity, however reality was Ben would have to undergo Chemo again, and again the only curative treatment is another Stem Cell Transplant. Today 20th July 2020 he has undergone nearly 6 months of aggressive treatment and barely spent a night at home. When I signed up for Race 4 Life in February, little did we know What the next few months would bring us. My race was cancelled but I have trained and trained my poor little feet non stop throughout. I will still run this 10k for Ben, what he has endured and still has a huge hurdle of another stem cell transplant ahead, only a superhuman can tolerate. If it weren’t for Cancer Research, he simply wouldn’t be here. The chemo didn’t work, the gene therapy didn’t and now we await the results of a brand new drug , 🧬 Gene Therapy didn’t work, and now we await the results if the new drugs produced due to Covid, have had the desired results to enable a transplant. So please any £1 will go a huge huge way, a find a cure for this devastating disease. I will run for Ben, I will run for a cure. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. It is so so appreciated. Your money has kept us going this far, let’s go for more and a cure
