My Story
I think most people have someone close to them that has been affected by cancer. I have loved ones who have caught it in time and beaten it, including my mum. I have also lost loved ones way before their time, including my father-in-law who was adored by his wife, sons and grandchildren - my children. They are 2 and 3 and we have taught them that when they see a bright star, that is Grandad Walker saying hello but he should still be here with them and us. I got to know my nan, Eve to an extent before she died of cancer way too young but never as an adult when i have learned to appreciate people more. Melvyn was a dear family member who we also lost last year. Whenever i think of him, i think of how genuine he was and how rare it is to be able to say that of someone. He is sorely missed. I don’t want to add any more names to my list, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
