My Story
With Coronavirus breathing down our necks at what seems like every turn many cancer patients who would of, under usual circumstances, received treatment have not been able to do so due to the NHS being pushed to the limit. It got me thinking wouldn’t it just be ideal if cancer simply didn’t exist?! Cancer Research’s on going work will, hopefully, bring about a day where that is no longer a dream, but a reality for us all. During this lockdown and furlough period many people have gotten into golf simply out of wanting something to fill the days with that gets them out walking and in the fresh air, myself and Keiran Randall included. It seemed like the obvious way, to our minds at least, to try and raise some money to help in whatever small way we’re able and give back via the medium that’s provided us with some sanity during this time. Anybody who plays golf will know the velocity of the task we are undertaking. All 72 holes of golf will be completed without a buggie (so thats roughly a 32km walk over two days) plus the added frustration of the multiple, inevitable shanks into the trees! If we hit our £500 target we will also do all 72 holes without a trolly, meaning it becomes a weighted carry 32km walk! Stonebridge and Shirley Golf Courses respectfully, have both agreed to help Keiran and I complete this colossal challenge. We will be playing 36 holes on the Saturday at Stonebridge and 36 holes on the Sunday at Shirley. Any little (or large) amount that you can spare to help us achieve our goal is very, very much appreciated. Thank you to all our friends in advance. Joe and Keiran. X
