On the 29/07/2015 one of my oldest friends Chris Greenwood lost his battle with cancer. I had no idea how bad it was until I turned up and saw him finally sleep, it was both devastating and deeply moving that I was there as he left us, although he will never be truly gone. Losing a good friend has deeply impacted me and has completely changed the way a look at life. During the challenging times life brings, the thought of Chris's strength and positivity helps me get through. He was such a calm and placid person who would rarely be phased by anything. This along with his relentless optimism will motivate me to finish this race and raise money and awareness for such a great cause. Chris will always be in our hearts and minds and I hope I can do him and his family proud. I am now running the great north run in his memory and would like you to sponsor me so I can raise as much money as possible to do my small bit to help find a cure for cancer sooner! I have a tattoo for him on my arm in Leeds Utd colours, we will have shirts with their motto on and I will be carrying a pendant with his ashes in that his Mum kindly had made, so he will be there with us entire way! Not only his strength but the strength of his parents, sister and family/friends, from start until the end will drive me and our best mate James on forward. I am not a natural runner so months of training will have gone into this but the end result is definitely raising as much as we can for this cause, he would be proud of how deep people have dug already for him! I’ve never met, or will ever meet anyone as brave as him.
