My Story
In September 2018 at the age of 43 I noticed an indentation on my left breast. Initially I couldn't feel a lump, but a few weeks later I did. I was referred to the RUH Breast Clinic the following week where after a Mammogram, Ultrasound, MRI Scan and Biopsies, I was diagnosed with Grade 3 invasive Breast Cancer in both Breasts. I was immediately booked in for a Double Mastectomy and shortly after this, started an 18 week course of Chemotherapy. My final Chemotherapy was last Tuesday!!! During my Cancer Treatment I have met some amazing people and have experienced overwhelming support from family and friends. 5 weeks ago I met up with one of my 'Bosom Buddies' for a coffee and catch up before our last Chemo sessions. We were talking about how we would celebrate once it was over by drinking champagne in a hot tub! Sadly, life is far too cruel and earlier this week at the age of just 32 she passed away peacefully, leaving a beautiful young family behind. Cancer is happening right now and effects so many people. Cancer doesn't care who's lives it destroys, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. I can barely walk up the stairs at the moment, so I'll need to dig deep with the training. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now if you can.
