My Story
Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page. The money I raise will help fund life-saving research and to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Last year my best friend of 34 years told me that she had found a lump in her breast, but it was nothing to worry about. Within weeks she was diagnosed with breast cancer, within months she had undergone a double mastectomy. Unfortunately her type of cancer cannot be treated through chemotherapy, so she is starting Radiation on 16th (CyberKnife) followed by Immunotherapy at The Royal Marsdon. She has been incredibly matter of fact and positive about the whole process, although I know she has been scared. Her sense of humour has never waned, as when I asked her months ago how she was doing, she chose to text me that she was having “both boobs off next week”. My friend is one in a million to me but unfortunately one of many who are coping with this situation every day. So when I wondered about what I could do to help I thought, well I enjoy running. So I decided as I was training for a triathlon in July (Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon) why not try to Run Every Day (RED) in 2023. It does seem ridiculous, but I think if my friend can live with this nightmare every day, then I’m sure I can pull on a pair of trainers and run a couple of miles every day. If you have taken the time to read this, then thank you. If you ever fancy joining me for a run, I would love the company. And if you feel you’re able to donate to help raise money for life saving research then I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you, Jo.
