My Story
Thank you for visiting my Cancer Research UK Cycle 300 page. I will be cycling 300 miles in a month for Cancer Research UK. I will be pedalling harder than ever because I want to raise money for life-saving research and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Every penny makes a huge difference to vital cancer research so please show your support with a donation to my page. This week and next I am getting some practice now that the freeze and snow has relented. My bike seems in good shape so let’s hope I can stay the course! Look out for the big yellow cyclist coming through your village in March. Give me a wave and a donation and help this charity with its good work. Off to a good start on a dull chilly Monday. I had my wife to accompany me today which was nice, and I got 3 waves so I’m giving an extra £3 to CRUK. Not much luck today. I broke a spoke so had to turn for home. Now I’ve got to wait until I have a functional wheel before I can get going again. No go on the bike repair yet so I’ve borrowed my daughters bike for a ride today. I hope it will keep me going until I get back on my own bike next week. Now that I’ve got my own bike to ride the weather is proving a spanner in the works. I’ve been out for a short ride this am to beat the gales later, but tomorrow the winds are gusting over 45 mph all day. Steady progress for the last week so I seem to be on target. The old knees are getting a bit creaky and the thighs are feeling the strain but I rode another 19 miles today. Thanks for all the support. Made it on a beautiful sunny afternoon with my wife for company. The only thing that went wrong was the lens falling out of her visor.
