John Miller Ride Across Britain for CRUK

Many thanks for even taking the time to have a look at this page. I appreciate we are all asked many times to donate and particularly in this Pandemic times are tough for everyone. I entered to do the Deloitte Ride across Britain (Lands End to John o Groats) back in March 2020. Full event details are on http://www.rideacrossbritain.com. Even now I think it is a crazy thing to have undertaken but I wanted to do something in support of my stepmother, Mary. At that time my stepmother, Mary, was terminally unwell with Lung Cancer, having been diagnosed about 18 months previously. She was on Oxygen 24 hours a day to help her breathe. It was heart breaking to watch someone so outgoing and vivacious struggling with her Cancer. Unfortunately while shielding during the Pandemic, Mary's condition worsened and she was admitted to a hospice in Edinburgh. With Covid regulations in force she was not allowed friends and family visitors and it was a tough time for everyone, and especially my Father who was unable to visit his wife. Mary did come out of the hospice but passed away shortly after. She died very peacefully at home in July 2020. My Mother, Sheila, has also faced Breast Cancer but battled successfully against it. I have other family members and many friends who have also suffered. I know we have all been touched by Cancer, it affects us all and we need to beat this awful thing. I believe Cancer Research can understand Cancer and are leading the way to find a cure for all Cancers: - They have already proved the value of cervical screenings which prevents thousands of deaths every year - They were a key player in the development of Radiotherapy which now benefits more than 130,000 patients every year in the UK - Their research helped develop 8 out of the top 10 cancer drugs - Over the last 40 years their work has helped double the survival rates for breast cancer patients. Please support me as I Ride Across Britain in September 2021. The ride is 980 miles and takes 9 days. I will (attempt to) cycle up the equivalent of Mount Everest twice. I also hope to ride The Etape Loch Ness, The Etape Caledonia, The Tour of the Forth and the Cyclone Challenge. I will represent Cancer Research at all these events.
