My Story

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. In February, I was diagnosed with a stage 4 astrocytoma brain tumour. Everything happened so quickly—I had to undergo emergency surgery, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Treatment is something I’ll be continuing for the rest of this year. It’s been overwhelming, frightening, and life-changing. But through it all, I’ve been determined to find something to keep me focused, positive, and moving forward. I’m not doing this alone. I’m incredibly lucky to have a team of friends, family and work colleagues who have truly shown up for me since my diagnosis. They’ve been a huge part of helping me stay strong, and it means everything to be taking on this Race for Life together. This isn’t just a race for me—it’s a goal. Something to work towards on the hard days. A reminder that even during treatment, I can still challenge myself and keep going. I’m running to support life-saving cancer research, but also for myself—for hope, strength, and a future where more people survive diagnoses like mine. Cancer affects so many of us, and research is what gives people like me a fighting chance.
